It was the usual hard fought battle between Queens Park and Dock in this Veronica Conway Cup tie at West Kirby. Dock had the two best chances in an otherwise dull first half. Mike McGraa had the first opportunity when he was put through on goal but was unable to find the target; Kieran Fleetwood was then unlucky when his header rebounded off the bar.

Queens Park started the second the better team, and were also unlucky not to open the scoring when the bar came to Dock’s rescue. However, Dock’s defence stood firm, and after eight minutes Darren McGuinness latched onto a Kieran Fleetwood pass and placed the ball past Queens keeper to make the score 1-0. Once Dock had scored there was no looking back as they dominated proceedings until the final whistle, with Peter McNulty and Darren McGuinness helping themselves to a goal apiece. Dock will now meet Stirrup Sports & Social in the second round this Sunday.
