A Darren McGuiness goal was not enough to see Dock through to the next round of the Cheshire Sunday Cup at Levers Sports Ground, as Rudheath doubled Docks tally to make a final score of Dock 1-2 Rudheath Social Club. (Apologies for no photos, but I was on the lash in Malaga.)

Rudheath Social 0-0 Dock (Cheshire Sunday Cup)

Dock earned a hard fought but well deserved replay against Northwich side Rudheath Social Club at a dull and overcast County FA playing field this morning. With confusion running high whether the game was going to be played or not, Dock found themselves with only about 5 fully fit and sober players with another six making the numbers up, which they did extremely well. In a game of very few chances for both teams, Dock, it must be said had the lion’s share of opportunities, especially towards the latter stages when hangovers were wearing off. But with both teams unable to break the deadlock the replay will take priority over other games and will be played next week at Levers (at least Ricky Hatton won’t be keeping people up next week). Final Score Rudheath Social Club 0-0 Dock
