Brow001Dock gained their revenge for last week’s defeat by Brow by knocking them out of the Houlihan’s Memorial Cup, but only just. The first half saw Dock with their back to the wall as a the strong wind made it difficult for them to get the ball out of their own half, but, they held firm to keep the score at 0-0 for the half time break. Dock had the wind advantage for the second half, but that advantage was soon lost as they were reduced to 10 men when their centre half was given him marching orders for 2 bookable offences. The visitors had the lion’s share of goal scoring opportunities in the second half but they were unable to convert because of a mixture of bad finishing and good defending. The extra time came and went (I don’t know what happened because I was on my way to Anfield), and the tie went to a penalty shoot-out which Dock won 4-3. Dock will now meet Rock Ferry Social in the semi final on 15th March 09
