Darren_McGuinness It was not a good day for Dock as they were dumped out of the Memorial Cup at the semi final stage ending any hopes of a trophy this season. It all started so well for Dock as they went 1-0 up after only two minutes when Mike Saunders and Darren McGuiness played a one-two on the edge of the area, Daren crossed the ball into the 6 yard area where Bernie Holmes connected and steered the ball into the back of the net. Bernie Holmes was also involved in Docks second goal when his cross was met by a Rock Ferry defender who tried to chest the ball back to the keeper, only to see it end up in the back of the net. Dock were guilty of losing concentration two minutes later resulted in Rock Ferry having a shot which Docks keeper Paul Roberts could only palm into the path of Jamie Kenyon, who made no mistake and blasted the ball past Robbo. Rock Ferry brought the game level on the 37 minute when Kenyon found himself one-on-one against Paul Roberts, Kenyon again made no mistake putting his shot past Robbo’s left leg and into the back of the net. Rock Ferry took the lead on the stroke of half time through Craig Cairns, and, they could have made it 4 when they were awarded a second half penalty, which Paul Roberts saved. Final Score Dock 2-3 Rock Ferry Social. Darren_McGuinness2
