15 year old Stephen was killed on Friday night at 10.40pm when a red Ford Fiesta hit him as he cycled near the junction of Manor Drive and Upton Road, Wirral. He died of his injuries at the scene despite treatment by paramedics.

Stephen was hit by a suspected drunk driver on the day he left Woodchurch High school, he was looking forward to adult life and finding work.

Today, Stephen’s mum Sue has begged witnesses to the crash, including the occupants of a small hatch-back, to come forward. In a statement released to the ECHO, Sue said: “I have lost my youngest child in what I can only describe as horrific circumstances. As a family, we are shocked and devastated by his loss, but we are determined to pull through this together. I would urge anybody with any information, no matter how insignificant they think it is, to come forward and tell the police.”

A 31-year-old male driver of a Ford Fiesta has been questioned by police on suspicion of drunk driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on bail pending further inquiries yesterday.

On Sunday almost 100 bunches of flowers had been left on the road where Stephen died.
