Dock squeezed through to the semi final of the Wirral Premier Cup after defeating Penny Lane in a penalty shoot-out after both teams failed to score during normal play and extra time. Penny Lane found themselves down to 10 men on the half hour mark when one of their players saw red for foul and abusive language towards the referee. The 10 men of Penny Lane defended very well to keep Dock at bay for the remainder of the game. Dock did get the ball in Penny Lane’s goal on three occasions, only to be denied by the referee’s whistle. Dock will now meet Kent FC in the Semi Final which will be played at Levers Sport Ground next Sunday (10-02-08)

News on Timmy Bigland

01-01-08: Timmy has e-mailed me and asked me so send his thanks to all who helped getting him off the pitch and to hospital after his injury on Sunday.

03-01-08: Timmy has been re-admitted into hospital to have an operation on his leg. He has also been diagnosed as having Cellulitis in the wound; this is a skin infection within the skin’s deeper layers. He will be out of action for at least 6 weeks. We all wish him the best of luck for a speedy recovery.

04-01-08: Tim has now been down for an operation but the Doctors were worried about the cut to the muscle, they have packed it for now and will re-assess in theater tomorrow morning. He has had the Cellulitis infection cut out and the area cleaned up.

Terry Lucas has e-mailed and asked me to pass on his and all the lads at Queens Park’s best wishes to Timmy for a speedy recovery.

Queens Park 2-2 Dock (BSFL Premier Division)

After a scrappy and hard fought battle Dock were left wondering whether it was two points lost or one point gained against Queens Park at West Kirby FC today. Dock found themselves 2-0 up on the hour mark courtesy of break away goals from Gary Reay and Darren McGuinness, and then had a great opportunity to make it 3-0 when Mike McGraa found himself one on one with the keeper, who bravely denied him. Queens Park’s hard work and determination paid off when they scored two well deserved goals from Michael Burke and Liam Atherton during the final half hour. The game was marred just before half time when Dock’s Tim Bigland was taken to hospital with a shocking gash which went through his skin and muscle after a nasty looking tackle which both the referee and his assistants deemed fair play. Final Score Queens Park 2-2 Dock.
