Everybody at Dock AFC is devastated to hear the sad news that Adam Lacy lost his 5 year battle against Leukaemia yesterday. Players, committee and supporters at the club would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Dad Paul, Mum Lynne and big brother Matthew.

From Adam’s Mum, Lynne:
I never thought I would ever have to write this post as I prayed that Adams transplant would work this time and kill the Leukaemia that has plagued his life for the past 5yrs, but unfortunately the bastard was just too much and our beautiful, handsome, talented, much loved blue eyed warrior passed away peacefully with us at home in his own bed at 8am this morning.

To say we are heartbroken is an understatement, our lives have been crushed forever and will never ever be the same.

He fought such an amazing battle and was an inspiration to so many people and we will be forever proud to call him our son.

Life is total shit and he truly never deserved the hand that was dealt to him but if he has taught us anything it is how precious life really is and how we should grab it with both hands and make the most of every day.

As a family we have decided to continue to bring Adams hopes and dreams to reality and we will be going to visit all the places he talked about going to, as we know he will be with us every step of the way.

Adams memory will live on forever in our hearts and we have so many wonderful memories to keep.

Although myself, Paul and Matthews hearts are broken, we will draw strength from Adam (and he was stronger than anyone I have ever met) and we will continue to live our lives in a way we know Adam would be proud.

Now that our FA Sunday Cup campaign for this season has come to an end, there are a number of individuals and organisations that we would like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to for their generous support which has been invaluable to us on our journey through this season’s competition.

First of all John Rice and Paul McGregor from our main loyal sponsor OWS Engineering. Secondly, a big shout out for Scott McCready from Mammut Plant Hire for an incredible gesture of support for our recent quarter final tie in Croydon. Also massive thanks to John Drummond, the Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Football League, Dave Edmunds and Tony Woodley from Vauxhall Motors FC, Shaun Holmes and Toddy Wood from Cammell Lairds FC and Dean Thomas from West Kirby FC who have all assisted greatly in different ways throughout our journey.

For our forthcoming Sunday National Cup game against Portland FC of Croydon, South London, we are looking at running a coach for supporters from Birkenhead, which will set off on the morning of the game. If we can fill the coach (53 seats) the cost will be £25.00 per person, if the coach is not at full capacity then the individual seat price will increase pro rata.

The player’s coach will be leaving on Saturday evening with an ETA at the Best Western Plus London Croydon Aparthotel of just after midnight, there are a limited number of seats available on this coach at £25.00 each, but you will need to make your own hotel arrangements.

A number of people have expressed a wish to travel down to London via train, but then return on the coach, the cost for one way Croydon to Birkenhead will be £20.00. This will, of course, depend on seat availability.

To guarantee your seat you will need to confirm your requirements and supply full payment as soon as possible, this can be via cash to any committee member, or by bank transfer to Dock AFC bank account (details on request).

We really need to know whether you require the return journey or just one way as soon as possible, spaces will be given on a first come first served basis.
