Dock 4-1 Stirrup (Houlihan’s BSFL Premier Division)

IMG_7755Dock won their third league game in a row with a superb win against bogey team, Stirrup Sports & Social at Levers Sports Ground.

Billy Foster will take the headlines with his first hat trick for Dock, but there were many impressive performances all over the park.

It was good to see Dock old boy Jonpaul Stanhope back in the green and white hoops following his excursion to the dark side, he looked like he had never been away.

Docks forth goal was a towering header from Mark Noakes who came off the bench and netting for the second game running.

Queens Park v Dock

As a mark of respect to Jean Reay and the Reay family Sunday’s game versus Queens Park has been cancelled. We thank the Birkenhead Sunday Football League and Queens Park FC for their understanding during this sad time.

Jean Reay

Jean

It is with much regret to have to report the sad loss earlier today of a lovely lady and wonderful character, “Mrs Dock FC” Jean Reay, who passed away peacefully following her long battle with illness.

The word ‘Legend’ is used all too often to describe many people in football circles, often without justification, but Jean Reay was a true ‘legend’ in every sense of the word in the eyes of everybody associated with the Dock Football Club.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Gary, Mike, Lee, Pauline, Arthur and the rest of the family at this very sad time from everybody at the Dock AFC.

Jean’s funeral arraignments are as follows:
Friday 16th November 10-30am Landican’s Centre Chapel, then afterwards at the Sacred Heart Club Moreton. Gary has requested no black ties, and it would be appreciated if the Dock lads wear a Dock or Everton shirt.

Dock 0-4 Halton Quayside (Cheshire Sunday Cup)

IMG_7047Dock continued their ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ start to the season with a 4-0 drubbing by classy Runcorn opponents Halton Quayside in the Cheshire Cup. The visitors controlled the game from the first minute to the last, always looking the fitter, stronger and hungrier of the two teams. Dock did have a number of key players missing through work and other commitments, but the team who played should have at least been able to compete, which they never did. The only time the visitors goalkeeper looked troubled was when he attempted to catch a corner only to see it slip through his hands, but even then nobody from the Dock was alert enough to tap the ball home.
