The Brunty Interviews.

Over the last few weeks Mike Stephens’ has conducted a series of one-to-one interviews with the legend that is Ian Brunt. In them we reveal a fascinating insight into the mind of a superstar, what makes him tick? what drives him on ? At times these meetings often ended in violence and more than once the Police were called. On conclusion of these interviews we were forced to sign a confidentiality clause by Brunts lawyers. This I do not recognise and here are those interviews in full.Brunty Pete

M.S.- Ian….thank you for this opportunity and your time. I realise that you have many commitments and time is a premium.

I.B.- Whateva.

M.S.- Excuse me ?

I.B.- You heard….Get on with it.

M.S.- Charming….Right then….Ian, your position as a global superstar is undoubted but can I ask you with what team did your journey to superstardom start with?

I.B.– Pacific. Next.

M.S.- I’d like to stay with the Pacific if I may ?

I.B.– Move on.

M.S.– No..I’m conducting this interview and…….

I.B.– Listen mate, I’m not in the mood for your poncy interview and if you fancy it…let’s have it !

M.S.- Are you threatening me ?

I.B.- Yeah, got it in one !

At this point Louis Spence (Brunty’s P.A.) called a halt to the interview. Louis explained that Brunty was under enormous pressure carrying The Dock F.C. They both left the room and returned five minutes later.

I.B.- Sorry about that…let’s start again.

M.S.- No problem….The Pacific…You played for them against The Dock at Newton in a cup tie in your younger days.

I.B.- That’s right…..I played in midfield against you.

M.S.- Correct…and you didn’t get a sniff.

I.B.- Behave!

M.S.- Yes and you asked me for my shirt after the game didn’t you ?

I.B.- Yes.

M.S.- Moving on….You signed for The Dock and immediately steered the club to the League championship as part of a treble trophy winning season….Did you know by then that you where a superstar in the making ?

I.B. – Well….Yeah…I did. The hair was coming on and taking shape then and my repertoire of overhead kicks and outside of the boot passes were growing game by game.

M.S. – And the designer stubble……?

I.B. – You’re taking the piss now…..Louis, Louis….. Get this dickhead out of here !

Louis approaches me and punches me full on in the face. Brunt then joins in putting the boot in and laughing whilst he does it. As I stagger to my feet Louis boots me right in the b@ll@cks and then ‘high fives’ Brunt. They both leave the room obviously pleased at what they had both done.

The interview is over as I ponder my next move….Do I get revenge or do I just let it go to get the big interview with one of the world’s greatest players?

Part 2 of The Brunty Interviews next month. How I get Binksy in as my minder. Louis chats Binksy up and Brunty wins the Ballon d’Or

Dock 4-1 Stockport Dynamoes (Cheshire Sunday Cup)

Lee HammondThe 1st round of the Cheshire Cup draw paired The Dock against a team from somewhere around the Coronation Street area…but to be fair to them they started like a Tram out of control over the cobbles! Boom Boom ! Oh come on …It’s my first report in ages!

The visitors opened on the front foot and dominated most of the first half hour but as the half progressed The Dock got a foot hold and started to play as a team that should have ambition to go a long way in this competition.

Thank God for Brunty ! I Thank our lucky stars that this Gladiator is still with us. Believe you me….offer’s were coming in thick and fast for this world renowned superstar…..Ale Madrid…..Lionel Blairs Showbiz XI…..Brighton and Hove Albion…but No ! Brunty stood firm and gave The Dock another year!

You can have your Hammonds…and you can have your J.K’s and to a certain extent…you can have your Bernaaaaaaaaard’s but in all my years of reporting, I have never come across a phenomenon that is called Ian Brunt.

Granted… all those named scored at crucial times but it was the main man that made sure that The Dock are in the hat for the next round.

Special mention must go to the number 5 who played as though it was yesterday and who knows…. might yet have his day in the sun. Young Billy done well when he came on and it was good to see Craig Donaghy with a Dock shirt on as opposed to a tight fitting vest and leather hot pants such as the clobber that he has been wearing to frequent Garlands recently.

Ross Carragher played well after he auditioned for X factor. He got rejected from ‘Jedward’ after Simon Cowell decided he wanted a duo not a trio. Gary Reay came back with a bang…nodding in from 3 yards…“All’s Gary Reay does is scores goals’’ Whoever made that statement wants knighting ! I’ve spoke to him personally and believe me…. he is finished with the Gay Scene and is fully concentrating on getting back his title of ‘Number 1 Sausage Jockey’ and I am sure he will retain it with ease.

I admit I missed the first couple of goals as Hon Tres. took me away for a half time cuppa….this has to stop as it has an adverse affect on the match report.

In summary we are second in the league after the opening weeks and have a developing squad. The new kit is….. as quoted …’The Dogs’… well done to all concerned and we look forward to more items of kit to come our way.

You may of heard rumours that Brunty and I may get it on at Christmas in the ring at the Vicky Lodge for our Xmas night out? I am currently in training and stand at 52-0. (52 by way of K.0) If we get 50 lads at £20 each to go to Dock coffers…I will make it 53-0. (53 by definite K.0).

Man of the Match…..Ian Brunt.

Charity Game This Sunday

A charity game is taking place on Sunday at Cammell Lairds in memory of Mick O’Brien. A number of the old Dock lads will be attempting to play so it should be a good laugh. Kick off is 2 o’clock, so please do your best to get there. I never had the pleasure of knowing Mick, but many people have told me what a great guy he was!!!

Dock sign new player from over the water

Stevie GDono and Brunty put their own positions in doubt as they welcomed a new midfield maestro to Dock AFC. Little is known about the new bloke other than he has been known to play for a team over the water and apparently he has won a few trophies, although it is rumoured that he has never won a league title.

When asked what made him decide to try his luck on this side of the Mersey the new bloke said it was the pull of the National Sunday Cup, and the thought of working alongside one of the games prolific goal machines in Gary Reay.

Hopefully the new bloke will make an appearance at the forthcoming Dock FC Old Arses verses Dock AFC Young Bucks, which is due to take place on Sunday 10th July (venue to be confirmed).
